On September 4, 2018, Sedrick Thompson of Gonzales, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts). Thompson was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charles “Chuck” Long, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a July narcotics investigation.  

          On July 9, 2018, narcotics agents with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the Gonzales residence of Sedrick Thompson as part of an on-going narcotics investigation. Upon making entry into the residence, agents made contact with Thompson who was then detained. During a pat-down search of Thomspon’s person, agents located a quantity of cash, marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin. While searching the residence, agents located additional quantities of marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. During a search of Thompson’s vehicle, agents located a duffle bag containing an additional large quantity of marijuana. Thompson was subsequently arrested and transported to the Ascension Parish Detention Center where he was booked accordingly.  

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Thompson was sentenced to 12 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
