Gonzales Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of Juvenile

          On Tuesday, Charlie Stafford of 41015 Mazoch Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Oral Sexual Battery with a Victim Under the Age of 13. Stafford was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Leila Braswell, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2014 investigation. 

          On January 11, 2014, detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in reference to a report of sexual abuse of a child. Detectives learned that Charlie Stafford performed oral sex on a juvenile under the age of 13. Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Stafford who was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. During an interview, Stafford admitted to the accusations. 

       Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Charlie Stafford was sentenced to 30 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Prior to being released from incarceration, the defendant is to undergo chemical castration. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life.
