Gonzales Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison Following Domestic Abuse Incident

          On March 21, 2019, Aaron Church of 6058 Brewerton Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 26, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following an August incident. Church was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joni Buquoi, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.          

          On August 25, 2018, deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a Gonzales residence in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with Aaron Church. Church initially told deputies that he was trying to get into the residence to get some clothing items, but his girlfriend would not let him inside. Deputies then made contact with Church’s girlfriend who advised that she had been physically assaulted over the last several days and did not want Church in the residence. Deputies observed injuries to the victim’s body consistent with her account of the incidents. Church was subsequently arrested and transported to the Ascension Parish Detention Center where he was booked accordingly. 

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Church was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
