On November 1, 2018, a St. James Parish Jury found 27-year-old Kyriene Vallery of Convent, LA. guilty of Manslaughter in Connection with the 2013 homicide of 25-year-old Christian Allen, also of St. James Parish. Vallery was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Steven Tureau and Adam Koenig. Presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.  

          On the night of November 28, 2013, deputies with the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to Club 7002 located along Hwy 44 in Convent following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, responding patrol deputies located a male subject identified as Christian Allen lying in the roadway suffering from an apparent stab wound. Deputies and patrons on scene rendered aid to Allen who was then transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  

          Upon notification, detectives responded and canvassed the crime scene for evidence. Detectives were able to identify and interview numerous witnesses who all gave statements consistent with one another. Detectives learned that a fight had started inside of the club at which time the fight was pushed outside. While outside, Vallery and Allen were involved in a physical altercation. After the altercation was over, Vallery was observed walking to a nearby vehicle, getting a knife, and walking back to where Allen was. At this time Vallery approached Allen and stabbed him in his side. At this time, Allen yelled that he had been stabbed. Allen attempted to run away and collapsed a short distance away. Vallery chased Allen until he collapsed. Vallery then fled the area. Vallery was subsequently arrested and booked into the St. James Parish Detention Center.     

           Upon the jury returning a guilty verdict in this matter, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Vallery is scheduled to appear before Judge Stromberg for sentencing on January 28, 2019. Vallery is facing up to 40 years in state prison.
