On Monday, Tyrone Chavers of 272 A Hwy 401 Napoleonville, LA, age 57, pled guilty to Second Degree Rape. Chevers was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2022 investigation conducted by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On May 25, 2022, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives were notified of a sexual assault which occurred in the Labadieville community. Based on information obtained by detectives during an interview of the victim, and DNA evidence, detectives were able to identify Tyrone Chevers as a suspect. Detectives were able to secure an arrest warrant for Chevers who was ultimately arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Tyron Chevers was sentenced to 27 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. In connection with this plea, Chevers is required to register and notify as a sex offender for life.
