On May 10, 2022, Darnell Robertson of 2389 Cypress St. Lutcher, LA., age 56, pled guilty to Manslaughter in connection with the 2014 shooting death of Mickquell Duhone also of Lutcher. Robertson was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr. 

          On September 24, 2014, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an area near the intersection of Fifth St. and West Lebray St. Lutcher in reference to a shooting. Deputies learned that the shooter who was identified as Darnell Robertson was leaving the area in a red pick-up truck. Deputies quickly located and made contact with Robertson who was detained by deputies pending further investigation. Duhone was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to injuries sustained from multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives obtained statements from multiple witnesses along with Robertson. Detectives learned that a group of individuals were playing dominos when a physical altercation ensued. Following the altercation, Robertson fired shots from a small caliber firearm striking Duhone. Robertson went back to his residence and gave the firearm to a neighbor which was subsequently turned over to detectives. Robertson was arrested and booked into the St. James Parish Jail.   

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On October 6, 2022, Robertson was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
