Napoleonville Man Sentenced for Illegal Narcotics Possession

           On August 29, 2018, Cedric Dupaty of Napoleonville, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids 3rd Offense. Dupaty was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

          On October 27, 2016 during the course of an ongoing narcotics investigation, narcotics agents with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a Napoleonville residence occupied by Cedric Dupaty. Upon making entry into the residence, Dupaty attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended. During a search of the residence, agents located quantities of cocaine, Lortabs, and marijuana. Dupaty was arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center where he was booked accordingly.

           Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On October 24, 2018, Dupaty appeared before Judge Verdigets for sentencing. Judge Verdigets ordered that Dupaty be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 5 years with credit for time served. It was further ordered that at least 3 years of the said sentenced are to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
