Paincourtville Man Pleads Guilty to Ascension Parish Burglaries

On May 28, 2019, Dennis Adams of 6018 Grant St. Paincourtville, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts). Adams was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Shawn Bush and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a series of vehicle burglaries in Donaldsonville.

On October 15, 2016, deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a purse being taken from inside a vehicle parked at an area convenience store. Deputies made contact with the victim who advised that she left her car unlocked with her purse inside while going into the store. Once she got back into her vehicle, she noticed her purse was missing. Deputies reviewed surveillance video footage and observed a male subject exit a dark colored SUV. The subject walked over to the parked car, entered the vehicle and took the purse. The subject got back into the vehicle and fled the area.

On November 4th, 2016, deputies responded to another complaint of a purse being taken from inside a vehicle at a second nearby convenience store. Detectives viewed surveillance video footage and observed a male subject exit a dark colored SUV. The subject walked over to the unlocked vehicle, made entry, and took the purse. The subject then fled the area.

The vehicle and suspect observed in both incidents were identical. Detectives identified the make and model of the vehicle. While searching the area for the suspect vehicle, detectives made contact with an individual who identified the suspect in both incidents as Dennis Adams. Detectives confirmed this information and obtained a warrant of arrest for Adams. Adams was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Adams was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
