Prairieville Man Sentenced on DWI 4th Offense

On 02/16/2016, Christopher Naquin of 40459 Augustine Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 32 pled guilty to DWI 4th Offense. Sentencing was deferred by Judge Kliebert pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Naquin was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle.

On 03/28/2015, deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 3900 block of Hwy 308 in Assumption Parish regarding a complaint that Naquin was driving reckless and had struck a mailbox along Hwy 308. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Naquin’s vehicle. Deputies were immediately able to detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Naquin’s breath. While attempting to locate insurance for Naquin’s vehicle in the glove box, deputies observed a spilled 12 oz. bud light bottle on the rear floorboard of Naquin’s vehicle. Naquin agreed to participate in a serious of Standardize Field of Sobriety Tests and failed. Upon completion these tests, Naquin was arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center. Naquin was given an opportunity to submit to chemical testing, but he refused.

On 06/20/2016, Judge Kliebert ordered that Naquin be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 15 years with credit for time served. Judge Kliebert ordered that 3 years of the imposed sentence are to be served without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of Sentence. Ten years of the imposed sentence are to be suspended, and upon release, Naquin is to be placed on supervised probation for a period of 5 years. Naquin has 2 prior DWI convictions in Lafourche Parish and 1 prior DWI conviction is East Baton Rouge Parish.
