Baton Rouge Man Pleads Guilty to Illegal Firearm Possession

On September 18, 2018, Cedric Walker of 16441 S Harrels Ferry Rd. Baton Rouge, LA., age 23, pled guilty to the charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Walker was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Steven Tureau, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a multi jurisdiction investigation into area burglaries.

In January 2016, during the course of a multi-jurisdiction investigation into area burglaries, detectives with the Gonzales Police Department and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office identified Cedric Walker as a potential suspect. Detectives located a shotgun in Walker’s Baton Rouge apartment during the execution of a search warrant. Walker confessed to stealing the shotgun from Ascension Parish. A criminal history search indicated that Walker had a 2015 felony conviction for 2nd Degree Battery. Walker was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Walker was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
