On April 26, 2017, James Musco of 3025 Robin Ln. Donaldsonville, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Musco was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2016 traffic stop.
On December 1, 2016, deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 308 in Belle Rose after observing a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, who was identified as James Musco, deputies observed that Musco appeared to be nervous and kept looking back at his vehicle. At this time, Musco was detained and granted deputies consent to search his vehicle. As deputies opened the driver side door of the vehicle, a clear plastic baggie containing crack cocaine was observed on the driver seat of the vehicle. Musco was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above mentioned charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Judge Verdigets ordered that Musco be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 2 ½ year with credit for time served.
