SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of April 1 – April 5, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Brett Allert, 45056 Dora Rd. St. Amant, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Taylor Almond, 1046 Daniel St. Baker, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Cory Borne, 12105 Chester Braud Rd. St. Amant, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Kimeka Curry, 917 S Carlos St. Gonzales, LA, age 51, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation. 
  1. Ronald Gibbs, 43677 Brittany St. Sorrento, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Derrick Guice, 806 West Julia St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Domestic Abuse Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation. 
  1. Cornell Hall, 19778 Vicknair Rd. Maurepas, LA, age 52, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  1. Chinquita Lane, 8544 S St. Landry Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Obtaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance by Fraud and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation. 
  1. Logan Norris, 18724 Keystone Ave Denham Springs, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Tyler Smith, 233 Taylor St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Robin O’Bannon, and Kristen Tregre. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge James Kuhn. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Skyler Gibson, 6161 Bayou Black Dr. Gibson, LA, age 30, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Korey Davis, 1200 Louise St. Thibodaux, LA, age 24, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.
