SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of April 17-April 21, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Mark Burke, 4715 Point Claire St. St. Gabriel, LA., age 47, pled guilty to Felony Hit and Run and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

2. Kenneth Hayes III, 8056 Gus St. New Orleans, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Armed Robbery and was sentenced to 15 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be served without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

3. Christopher Hendricks, 430 W Minor St. Gonzales, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be served without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

4. Kamron Kelly, 37144 Hwy 942 Darrow, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. Kelly was sentenced to 4 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
5. Donnell Bates, 103 Grisaffe Ln. Belle Rose, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 5 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

6. Justin Hill, 616 Holly St. Bunkie, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

7. Michael Jenkins, 9298 Hwy 22 St. Amant, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Forgery and was sentenced to 18 months at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. Jenkins was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $3,200.00.

8. Russel Daigle, 3090 Laifton Ln. Port Allen, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Principal to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 4 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

9. Robyn Grosse, 43083 Weber City Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

10.  Jay Johnson, 41065 Hwy 42 Prairieville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. Per Judge Turner, Sentencing was deferred Pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

11. Michael Roddy, 14015 Mazoch Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 45, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Shawn Bush. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

Assumption Parish:
