SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the Week of July 11 – July 15, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:
1. Norman Coleman, 2300 N Harco Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 27 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

2. Antonio Garcia, Moody Dixon Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or more, but less than $5000. Garcia was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.

3. Henry Latsetter, 19545 Vicknair Rd. Maurepas, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

4. Untausess Loveberry, 2513 S Penn Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 18, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.

5. Andreanea North, 915 Elizabeth St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and Disturbing the Peace. On the Charge of Aggravated Battery, North was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, and on the charge of Disturbing the Peace, North was sentenced to 30 days in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentences are to be suspended, and North is to be placed on 18 months supervised probation.

6. Danny Allen, 40174 Hwy 74, Gonzales, LA., age 42, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $5000 or more, but less than $25000. Allen was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

7. Israel Bell, 712 First St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 46, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

8. Passmore Furusa, 35402 Big Easy St. Geismar, LA., age 45, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 4 years of the imposed sentence is to be suspended, and Furusa is to be placed on 1 year of home incarceration. Upon release from home incarceration, Furusa is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

9. Aaron Melancon, 18642 Broussard Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

10. Michael Nicholas, 1259 St. Charles St. Thibodaux, LA., age 45, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and Operating a Motor Vehicle While under Suspension for Certain Prior Offenses. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

11. Marvin Rodrigue, 35102 Hwy 1 N Donaldsonville, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 30 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

12. Sasha Unbehagen, 14330 Bayou Estates St. Amant, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and 2nd Degree Battery. Unbehagen was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentences are to be suspended, and Unbehagen is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish:
1. Jamar Jones, 1126 S Park Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

2. Brett Sappington, 47456 Hwy 973 Maurepas, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

3. Kenneth Camel, 2367 Lionel Washington St. Lutcher, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business and was sentenced to 4 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

4. On March 15, 2016, Latroy Jones Jr., 35320 Lawrence Brusly Rd. Donaldsonville, LA., age 38, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Per Judge LeBlanc, sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On July 11, 2016, Judge LeBlanc ordered that Jones be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 5 years. It was ordered that 1 year of the imposed sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Upon release, Jones is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

5. On March 14, 2016, Jason Paul Martin, 32366 Hwy 642 Paulina, LA., age 42, pled guilty to Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2counts), and Creation or Operation of a Clandestine Laboratory. Per Judge LeBlanc, sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On July 11, 2016, Judge LeBlanc ordered that Martin be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 7 years with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was ordered that 4 years of the imposed sentence is to be suspended, and that Martin is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation upon release from incarceration.

6. Devin Hebert, 952 Whitlow Ct. Laplace, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Theft of a Firearm (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation.
