SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of March 12-March 16, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Kelvin Owens, 10306 Boudreaux St. Gonzales, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Simple Arson and Simple Burglary. On the charge of Simple Arson, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Simple Burglary, the defendant was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the said sentences are to run consecutive to one another for a total of 10 years. It was further ordered that the sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Brandon Gonzales, 1639 Gurlie Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Simple Arson and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Bertrelle Howard, 115 N Roscoe St. Gonzales, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Simple Robbery and Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution. The defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the defendant is to serve 2 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 5 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  4. Leslie Watkins, 113 Dora St. Lafayette, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Movable and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  5. Marque Hankton, 16411 S Harrels Ferry Baton Rouge, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts) and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  6. Lloyd Jackson, 14035 A Porrier Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Felony Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the defendant is to serve 2 years of the said sentence, 1 year of which is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. The remaining 3 years are to be suspended, and upon release from incarceration the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  7. Douglas Primeaux, 39105 Prairie North Dr. Gonzales, LA., age 46, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The said sentences are to run consecutive to one another for a total of 10 years. It was further ordered that the imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  8. Sheila Eppinett, 14576 Bluff Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 47, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  9. Rickey Michel, 42455 Black Bayou Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Obscenity and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  10. John Youmans, 205 Country Estates Dr. Houma, LA., age 54, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $5,000 or More, but Less than $25,000. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

  1. Thomas Solet, 5151 Highland Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Scarlett Solet, 5151 Highland Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Theft Valued at $750 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Matthew Johnston, 1408 Tamar Lane Austin TX., age 34, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. James Glasper, 137 Hwy 400 Napoleonville, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Jerry Poe, 182 Elaine St. Morgan City, LA., age 55, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  4. Luther Oliver, 2471 Hwy 308 Thibodaux, LA., age 18, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Renee Rulf, 190 South Vivian St. Morgan City, LA., age 47, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  6. Christopher Fleming, 711 Houma St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 63, pled guilty to Communication of False Information of a Planned Arson, Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, and Public Intimidation (3 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

St. James Parish:

  1. Meagen Lefleur, 39532 Brignac Rd. Paulina, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Brent Zeller, 1390 Second St. Lutcher, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Simple Burglary. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
