SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of March 8 – March 12, 2021, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Brandon Hoover, 15356 Country Ln. Lacombe, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Hit and Run Driving, Simple Criminal Damage to Property Over $1,000, but Less Than $50,000, and Simple Criminal Damage to Property Less than $1,000 (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Caleb Morgan, 632 Meadow Bend Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Simple Criminal Damage to Property. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Clyde Picou, 39459 Babin Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Involving Strangulation and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served, and the remaining 1 year is to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 1-year supervised probation.
  4. Allen Parsons, 330 Engleside Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 41, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  5. Colby Bourn, Bouge Chitto, MS., age 24, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  6. Darnell Rome, 36171 Julien Ln. Donaldsonville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Maeghen Kling. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

  1. Melissa Dubois, 12063 Wunstel Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $5,000, but Less than $25,000 and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be served on home incarceration.
  2. Quincy Salvant, 100 Fourth St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Involving Strangulation and Violation of a Protective Order. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 ½ years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Calvin Nelson Jr., 6015 Grant Rd. Paincourtville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Kobbie George, 118 Elaine St. Bayou L’Ourse, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.

St. James Parish:
