Bayou L’Ourse Man to Serve 7 Years for Illegal Drug Possession

On March 8, 2021, Kobbie George of 118 Elaine St. Bayou L’Ourse, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. George was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2019 narcotics investigation targeting local drug dealers in Assumption Parish.

On April 25, 2019, narcotics agents with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Kobbie George during the course of an on-going narcotics investigation after identifying George as a distributor of illegal narcotics. During the search of the residence, agents located a quantity of methamphetamine, other narcotics, several firearms, and items associated with the packaging and sale of illegal narcotics. George was subsequently arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, George was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
