SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of March 9 – March 13, 2020, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Cleveland Thompson, 39012 Bayou View Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Richard Culler, 31941 Lower Rome Rd. Springfield, LA., age 46, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Gene McCauley, 37225 Charlotte Ave. Prairieville, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (6 counts) and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Ion Bobonea, 132 Williard Ave. Opelousas, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Marcus Green, 6354 Silverleaf Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $750, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Tyler Moore, 12390 Deck Blvd. Geismar, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts) and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Kelvin Scott, 3027 Newton St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 53, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $5,000, but Less Than $25,000 and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  8. Romany Singh, 1713 S Shirley Dr. Gonzales, LA., age 62, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be deferred, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. The defendant must also be placed on 6 months home incarceration as part of probation conditions.
  9. Tony Williams, 7375 Hanks Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Simple Robbery and Theft Valued Greater Thank $1,000. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

  1. Timothy Coats, 18533 Little Prairie Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  2. Jeremiah Fuller, 17073 Kari Dr Prairieville, LA., age 45, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Paul Vicknair, Magnolia, MS., age 42, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  4. Brandon Collins, 10239 T Boy Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  5. Steven Fontenot, 41149 LA 42 Prairieville, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Aaron Michel, 42020 Rudy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Jeremy Mitchell, 28250 Hwy 405 Plaquemine, LA., age 33, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish:

  1. Devis Vondell Napoleon, 7153 Communi St. St. James, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  2. Dwayne Brown, 8611 Oak St. New Orleans, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
