SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of November 14-November 18, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Keith Gayden, 39145 W Worthey St. Gonzales, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  2. Braxton Lott, 17797 Airline Hwy Gonzales, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Cruelty to Juveniles and was sentenced to 1 year in the parish jail with credit for time served. 
  3. Orshandon Harris, 2355 N Exchange Alley Lutcher, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Simple Criminal Trespassing. On the charge of Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property, the defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. On the charge of Simple Criminal Trespassing, the defendant was sentenced to 30 days in the parish jail with credit for time served, to be suspended. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 
  4. Torrie Lacey, 43204 Hwy 933 Prairieville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  5. Sonia Todd, 711 Duke St. Morgan City, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  6. Brandon Henry, 10474 Acy Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  7. Rodney Morris, 11457 Hwy 431 St. Amant, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Amy Colby. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Kendell Jones, 204 Maple St. Labadieville, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  2. Lawrence Watkins, 1237 Pace Blvd New Orleans, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 2 years at hard labor with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

St. James Parish:
