SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of November 21-November 23, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Quincy Phillips, 2525 Orice Roth Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
  2. Thomas Cousin, 4216 Haydel Rd. Darrow, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Identity Theft and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Stevan Smith, 2837 E Murf Orange, TX., age 29, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  4. Clarence Williams, 14074 Mire Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Linda Hudson, 13362 Decoteau Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 63, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or More, but Less Than $5000. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  6. Layne Goodman, 42116 Norwood Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation.
  7. James Rood II, 41036 Marchand Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 39, pled guilty to First Degree Vehicular Negligent Injuring and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  8. James McCormack, 18256 Log Cabin Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 18, pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation.
  9. Chance Lambert, 17381 Penn Blvd. Prairieville, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish:

  1. Jylin Nelson, 13245 Falgoust St. Vacherie, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
