SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of November 9 – November 13, 2020, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Tamara Bourgeois, 12177 JC Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 57, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  2. Charles Brown Jr., 17085 Charles Brown Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 50, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  3. Jon Day, 18187 Old Reserve Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 48, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  4. Thomas Holmes, 15317 Floyd Holton Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served.
  5. Tynea Gray, 126 Azalea Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 10 months supervised probation.
  6. Jacoby Davis, 6044 Hwy 308 Belle Rose, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and Simple Burglary. The defendant was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Adrienne Gomez, 18362 Little Prairie Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  8. Sacha McGehee, Bogalusa, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse and Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Maeghen Kling. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

  1.  Raul Garza Jr., 41096 CJ Courtney Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 25, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  2. Eary London, 1573 Fig St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 59, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $5,000 or More, but Less than $25,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served to be served on home incarceration.
  3. Michael Teadt, 1414 South Rd. Morgan City, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Theft of a Firearm (5 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish:

  1. Dwayne Jackson, 936 Tammel Ave. Baton Rouge, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Attempted Monetary Instrument Abuse and was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Emile St. Pierre.
