SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 19 – October 23, 2020, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Na’Quan Coleman, 1033 S Sky Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for tine served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. John Callender III, 45067 Huntington Dr. St. Amant, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  3. Manuel Jacobs, 265 Madewood Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Obstruction of Justice and Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  4. Blake Anderson, Baton Rouge, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Theft of a Firearm and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  5. Thomas Babin, 17448 Newman St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  6. Kentrell Brooks, 810 Catalpa St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kenneth Dupaty, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish: 

  1. Damien Wiggins, 2250 Hwy 20 West Vacherie, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
