SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 2 – October 6, 2023, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Ashlee Delacerda, 47187 Hwy 937 St. Amant, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. James Jones, 8365 Debate St. Sorrento, LA, age 59, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Robert Grosse, 41120 Merritt Evans Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long and Robin O’Bannon. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Anthony Harris, 150 Pecan St. Napoleonville, LA, age 58, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served, and the remaining 2 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Baron Knockum, 180 Blackwell Lane Belle Rose, LA, age 57, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Junius Thompson III, 142 French Lane Napoleonville, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Spencer Joseph, 171 Frank Lane Belle Rose, LA, age 63, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Patrick Sheppard, 5407 Barras St. St. James, LA, age 61, pled guilty to DWI 4th Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  1. Jarren Benn, 9296 Watertower St. Convent, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Melvin Zeno.
