SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 24-October 28, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Alvin Valentine, 14340 Oak Meadow St. Gonzales, LA., age 56, pled guilty to Theft over $750, but Less than $5,000. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  2. Lamar Callaway, 18421 Belle Grove Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 45, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the imposed sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.  
  3. Dustin Capell, 16393 Chris Dr. Gonzales, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Ronnie Metrejean, 116 Angela St. Pierre Part, LA., age 46, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr. 

  1. Cody Grandin, 1907 Hwy 70 Pierre Part, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Moses Diggs, 11232 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sara Clarke, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.
