SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 3-October 7, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Adam Blackwell, 501 E Verna St. Gonzales, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Unlawful Use or Possession of Body Armor, Theft Valued at $750 or more but less than $5000, and Simple Burglary. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Unlawful Use or Possession of Body Armor, the defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Theft Valued at $750 or more but less than $5000, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Simple Burglary, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. All of the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  2. Rebecca Elpers, 7204 Main St. Sorrento, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  3. Immanuel Bailey, 16142 Hwy 930, Prairieville, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule V Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  4. Cade Colby, 14269 Oak Meadow St. Gonzales, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. It was ordered that 3 years of the imposed sentence are to be suspended under the following conditions: The defendant must serve 2 years of the imposed sentenced without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence, and upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.  
  5. Shelly Robinson, 45490 Picou St. St. Amant, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  6. Timothy Mercer, 28913 Church of God Rd. Springfield, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Resisting an Officer, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  7. Ryan Falgout, 43512 Talley Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Resisting an Officer. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long and Lindsey Manda. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Raheem Colar, 30225 Travis St. Walker, LA., age 22, pled guilty to First Degree Robbery and was sentence to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. 
  2. Montel Harris, 908 Martin Luther King Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Dwain Mills, 229 N Hwy 403 Paincourtville, LA., age 55, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

St. James Parish:

  1. Justin Green, 45142 Sterling St. St. Amant, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Walter Vicknair, 1623 N Coolidge Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
