SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of September 11 – September 15, 2023, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Johntez Ezeff, 12483 Arceneaux Lane Geismar, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Leila Braswell, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

  1. Sage Clifton, Ascension Parish, age 22, pled guilty to Battery of a Police Officer and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Omar Becho, 504 Thoroughbred Park Dr. Thibodaux, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Lendall Thomas, 2317 Church St. Vacherie, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Joshua Thomas, 326 Nancy Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Joseph Johnson Jr., 10419 Legion St. Convent, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Christopher Brooks, 227 S Willow St. Gramercy, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Attempted Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
