SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of September 19-September 23, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Terry Brown, 45015 Sycamore Ave. Baton Rouge, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Theft of a Firearm and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentenced is to be served without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
  2. Aziza Washington, 1011 Madewood Rd. Laplace, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Felton Wallace, 2169 Alexander St. Lutcher, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  4. Kristin Dufrene, 25175 West St. Springfield, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  5. Niame Sanders, 11232 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and Attempted Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another.
  6. Benjamin Jarreau, 41156 Black Bayou Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Attempted Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

  1. Matthew Sarvis, 16304 Oakridge Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling (2 counts) and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Tori Orillion, 8880 Joie Rd. Zachary, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  3. Delton Selders, 3392 Wanda Ln. Baton Rouge, LA., age 17, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  4. Charlie Smith, 1230 W Garfield St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Shawn Bush. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

 Assumption Parish:

  1. Billy Rodrigue, 118 Gerald St. Pierre Part, LA., age 42, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or More but Less than $5000, Simple Burglary, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

St. James Parish:

  1. Jarius Charles, 2385-1 Project Dr. Vacherie, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  2. Mitchell Chatman, 511 Catalpa St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of an Access Card and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
