St. James Parish Grand Jury Indicts Lutcher Man on Second Degree Murder

On October 4, 2016, a St. James Parish Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment on Burnell Gordon of Lutcher, LA., age 35, on the charges of Second Degree Murder, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.

On June 15, 2016, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Courseault St. in Lutcher. During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to secure an arrest warrant for Burnell Gordon in connection with the shooting death of 19 year old Darrell Johnson. Gordon is accused of shooting Johnson at his (Johnson’s) residence.

Gordon remains incarcerated at the St. James Parish Detention Center awaiting arraignment. No arraignment date has been set as of this time. Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon is the lead prosecutor on this case.
