Gramercy Man Indicted on 1st Degree Murder Charge

          On May 6, 2019, a St. James Parish Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment on 27-year-old Quannae Clark of 502 N Ezidore St. Gramercy, LA. for 1st Degree Murder in connection with the February shooting death of 22-year-old Destin Smith, also of Gramercy. Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig is the lead prosecutor on this case. 

          On February 11, 2019, deputies with the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a Lutcher apartment complex in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located Destin Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Smith was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Detectives identified Quannae Clark as a suspect. Clark was subsequently arrested and booked into the St. James Parish Detention Center.  

          Clark who has been out on bond since April 10, 2019, turned himself in to authorities on May 13, 2019. Upon being booked on the 1st Degree Murder Charge, Judge LeBlanc ordered that Clark remain incarcerated with no bond. Clark entered a plea of not guilty.
