On March 21, 2016, members of the Louisiana State Police, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Our Lady of the Lake Hospitals, 23^rd Judicial District Public Defender’s Office, Ascension Parish Judge’s Office, and the 23^rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office attended Dutchtown High School to participate in a mock trial. Also participating in the mock trial were several students. The individuals participating in the mock trial worked together to create a courtroom demonstration of an individual on trial for vehicular homicide. There was a judge, jury, prosecutor, and multiple witnesses. This event was part of the Louisiana State Police Sudden Impact Program. The Sudden Impact program was designed to give high school students across the state a first-hand look at how driving impaired, distracted, or unrestrained effects individual families, along with communities as a whole
