Pierre Part Man Pleads Guilty in Connection with Various Arrests

           On August 10, 2020, Jade Aucoin of 117 Substation St. Pierre Part, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Simple Burglary, and Theft Valued at More than $1,000, but Less than $5,000. Aucoin was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors after Aucoin was arrested three times within a five-month period.

           On July 29, 2019 a patrol deputy with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing a traffic violation on Hwy 70 in Assumption Parish. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Jade Aucoin, the deputy observed Aucoin to be nervous and acting suspicious. Based on Aucoin’s demeanor and several comments made to the deputy regarding narcotics, a K-9 unit was dispatched. During an open-air sniff around the vehicle, the K-9 made a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. During a subsequent search of the interior of the vehicle, deputies located a marijuana cigarette along with a quantity of suboxone pills. Aucoin was placed under arrest and transported to the Assumption Parish Jail where he was booked accordingly.

           On August 22, 2019, patrol deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Pierre Part area after observing a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Jade Aucoin, and engaging in a brief conversation, deputies requested consent to search the interior of the vehicle driven by Aucoin. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a handgun inside. During a criminal history check, deputies learned that Aucoin had a prior felony conviction for Possession of Methamphetamine in St. Mary Parish. Aucoin was placed under arrest and transported to the Assumption Parish Jail where he was booked accordingly.

           On December 4, 2019, deputies and detectives with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the Belle River area in reference to a series of thefts in the area along with an abandoned vehicle parked on private property containing a variety of miscellaneous items which were believed to be stolen from the area. Detectives were able to determine that the items in the vehicle had been taken from camps in the area. The vehicle in question was registered to Jade Aucoin. Detectives located Aucoin’s cell phone and keys in the area. Aucoin quickly became a suspect and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

           Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Aucoin was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
