Prairieville Man Pleads Guilty in Connection with Robbery of St. Amant Business

            On last week, Joshua Trahan of 44456 Lakewood Dr. Prairieville, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Simple Robbery. Trahan was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Leila Braswell, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with the April robbery of a St. Amant business. 

          On April 23, 2024, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the robbery of an area business along HWY 431 in St. Amant. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with employees who advised that a male subject wearing a blue hoodie, dark colored pants, safety glasses, and gloves entered the business and approached the cashier. The subject who was in possession of a hammer at the time, ordered the cashier to open the register, took approximately $247 from the register, and fled the area. A second deputy was patrolling the area in effort to locate the subject in question when a pick-up truck was observed to be backed into a nearby wooded area with its running lights on. Deputies made contact with a male subject at the vehicle who was identified as Joshua Trahan. Deputies observed a quantity of cash consisting of different denominations on the ground near the vehicle. The total amount of cash located was $237. Detectives also observed clothing items on the passenger seat of the truck consistent with the clothing worn by the subject during the robbery. At this point, Trahan was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. 

        Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Trahan was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
