On last week, Jose Martinez of 39143 Country Dr. Prairieville, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Aggravated Crimes Against Nature (4 counts). Martinez was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Phil Maples and Brant Mayer. Presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2020 investigation into the sexual assault of a juvenile.
On July 13, 2020, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives responded to a Prairieville residence in reference to a complaint indicating that a 16-year-old juvenile female had been sexually assaulted by a relative. Detectives learned that the juvenile had come forward and explained the course of events to an unrelated adult. Detectives learned that the suspect, Jose Martinez, had influenced the juvenile to engage in unwanted sexual intercourse. Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Martinez who was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Jose Martinez was sentenced to 29 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator.
