On May 28, 2019, Preston Sharp of 38174 Smith Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Sharp was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a string of burglaries in Prairieville.

          Between July 6 and July 20, 2019, deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of multiple vehicle burglaries throughout the Prairieville area. During the burglaries, the suspects stole miscellaneous items including but not limited to wallets, identification cards, credit cards, jewelry, and firearms. During the course of this investigation, hard work and assistance from the community helped identify the suspects in the burglaries as Justin Sharp and Preston Sharp. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for both brothers who were subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center.

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Preston Sharp was sentenced to 12 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Justin Sharp remains out on a Bench Warrant for his arrest after failing to appear in court.
