St. Amant Woman Pleads Guilty to Heroin Possession

          On February 27, 2018, Jessica Elwood of 44434 Elwood Dr. St. Amant, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. Elwood was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Shawn Bush, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2016 narcotics investigation. 

          On July 5, 2016, narcotics agents with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a local apartment complex as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. During the search of the apartment, agents located a quantity of Heroin. Elwood, who was asleep inside of the apartment was arrested and subsequently booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.  

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Elwood was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served
