Sunshine Man Pleads Guilty to Molestation of a Juvenile

          Last week, Derrick Lodge of 1835 Besson Lane Sunshine, LA, age 42, pled guilty to Molestation of a Juvenile Under the Age of 13 (2 counts). Lodge was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Adam Koenig and Lana Chaney. Presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2022 sexual assault investigation. 

          On June 25, 2022, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives initiated an investigation after receiving a report of a juvenile male being sexually assaulted. Detectives obtained statements and evidence consistent with the allegations presented. Detectives learned that on multiple occasions, Derrick Lodge, engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the male juvenile. Detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Lodge who was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. 

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Derrick Lodge was sentenced to 25 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Lodge must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life.
