Prairieville Man Pleads Guilty to Multiple Counts of Crimes Against Children

          Last week, Douglas Decuir of 17880 Airline Hwy Prairieville, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Second Degree Rape (2 counts), Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile (2 counts), and Pornography Involving Juveniles with Victim Under 13 Years of Age (2 counts). This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2021 investigation conducted by the Gonzales Police Department. Decuir was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Lana Chaney, and Adam Koenig. Presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. 

          On September 15, 2021, officers with the Gonzales Police Department responded to an area residence in reference to a possible sexual assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an individual who provided information indicating that two juvenile females had disclosed information relative to being sexually assaulted by a close family friend. Detectives responded and an investigation commenced. Both juveniles provided detailed accounts of the assaults to forensic interviewers. Based on these interviews and other evidence ultimately recovered, a warrant of arrest was issued for Douglas Decuir. Decuir was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. 

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Douglas Decuir was sentenced to 30 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. As part of this plea agreement, the defendant agrees to surgical castration to be administered by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections by a licensed physician. The defendant must also register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life.
