Thibodaux Man Pleads Guilty to Illegal Narcotics Possession

On May 14, 2018, Quintero Jupiter of 611 N Canal Blvd. Thibodaux, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Jupiter was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2017 traffic stop.

On March 24, 2017, a uniformed patrol deputy with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the town of Napoleonville after observing a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Quintero Jupiter, the deputy observed Jupiter to appear very nervous. While being questioned, Jupiter advised that he had nothing illegal inside of the vehicle and granted deputies consent to search the interior of the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a bag containing a quantity of MDMA along with multiple clear plastic baggies containing cocaine individually wrapped and packaged for sale. Jupiter was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Jupiter was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
