SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of February 8 – February 12, 2021, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Dustin Crawford, 760 S Sammy St. Gonzales, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Attempted Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Lorenzo Mackie, 917 N 29th St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Movable and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Christopher Phillip, 10475 E Carrolton Cir. St. James, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. David Sharp, 12088 Laurel Ridge Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal Carrying of Weapons. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Harry Boyd, 45080 Huntington Dr. St. Amant, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  6. Dustin Capell, 16503 Chris Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $5,000, but Less than $25,000 and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Joshua Clark, 704 N Brown Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  8. Daniel Villnuve, 9011 Hwy 22 St. Amant, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Simple Burglary, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, and Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  9. Joseph Seymore, 18346 Eldon St. Prairieville, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Maeghen Kling. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Cherilyn Bourgeois, 121 N Timothy St. Pierre Part, LA., age 47, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, and DWI 1st Offense. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  2. Ashley Truehill, 518 Linda Ann Ave Gonzales, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 1-year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation.
  3. Lakisha Truehill, 548 S Holly Rd. Labadieville, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 1-year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation.
  4. Lionel Mitchell, 121 Freetown Ln. Labadieville, LA., age 58, pled guilty to Violation of Protective Orders (2 counts) and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Chance Cutrer, 1833 Calf Run St. Schriever, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
