SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of January 15 – January 19, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Derivon Brown, 516 Houmas St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Mikel Onyedinma, 6141 Callahan Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (7 counts) and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Denise Sinclair, 13427 Leon Babin Sr Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property, Criminal Trespassing, and Simple Burglary. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Spencer Coleman, 1490 Besson Lane St. Gabriel, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000, Flight from an Officer, Negligent Injuring, and Reckless Operation of a Vehicle. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Jeff Heggelund. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Gant-Turner. 

Assumption Parish:

St. James Parish:
