SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of March 18 – March 22, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Rudy Bachan-Sis, Gonzales, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Jeffery Miles, 14390 Brignac Rd. St. Amant, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Vincent Seal, 23456 Brittany Rd. Sorrento, LA, age 52, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $5,000 or More, but Less than $25,000 and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Jeanie Stevens, 2174 Virginia St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Identity Theft (3 counts) and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Casey Wade Harris, 13460 Joe Gautreaux Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Movable and was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. 
  1. Adam Blackwell, 2384 Lemanville Cutoff Rd. Donaldsonville, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Tylan Tilford, 209 E Josephine St. Gonzales, LA, age 31, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Jeff Heggelund. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Gant-Turner. 

  1. Steven Hall, 1118 S Vista Ave Gonzales, LA, age 50, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 2 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 8 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Anderson Parker, 3041 Huron St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long and Robin O’Bannon. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge James Kuhn. 

  1. Adrian Davis, 38223 Hwy 621 Gomzales, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Jeremy Scherer, 38174 Smith Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Simple Arson and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Christopher Coleman, 3085 Robinson Lane Donaldsonville, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

13. Treyvon Covingston, 17098 W Willow Dr. Prairieville, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Simple Burglary, Theft of Livestock (3 counts), Attempted Theft of Livestock, and                 Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (4 counts). Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 

  1. Lawrence Furlow, 41234 Lakefront Ave. Gonzales, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Negligent Homicide and DWI 4th The defendant was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Leila Braswell. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Jaheim Miller, 1419 Worthey Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Dent Hunter, 11303 Midpoint Dr. New Orleans, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Residential Contractor Fraud (2 counts) and was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jacob McEarl, 3520 Geismar St. Paulina, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
