SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of May 13 – May 17, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Laron Lang, 1317 St. Patrick St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Illegal Use/Possession/Control of Weapons and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brant Mayer, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

  1. Jarred Brown, 1203 St. Patrick St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Obscenity and was sentenced to 6 months in the parish prison with credit for time served. 
  1. Austin Bickham, 1309 Leycester Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Battery of Emergency Room Personnel, Emergency Services Personnel, or a Health Care Professional and Simple Criminal Damage to Property Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Reginald Williams, 810 Catalpa St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Heroin, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
  2. Kentrel Stephens, 12339 Palmer Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence was deferred, and the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Shane Roddy, 17329 J T Roddy Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less Than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Chad Prejean, 17851 Bay Paul Rd. Livingston, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Stalking and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Aaron Osterhout, 14406 Oak Meadow St. Gonzales, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.                                                                                                                                           
  2. Charles Marble, 156 Hidden Acres Rd. Lucedale, MS, age 47, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.  
  1. Jackalyn Lucas, 41068 N 1st Ponchatoula, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.                                                                                          
  2. Zachary Cashio, 40274 Parker Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 29, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Imposition of sentence was deferred, and the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Philip Prescott, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Tarik Dupaty, 124 Dupaty Ln. Belle Rose, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (2 counts) and was sentenced to 40 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge James Kuhn.  

St. James Parish: 

  1. Lance Lassere, 1475 Magnolia Heights Vacherie, LA, age 37, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Janea North, 915 Elizabeth St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Automobile Insurance Policies and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
