SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of May 23-May 27, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Mason Delee, 16454 West Lake Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and the presiding judge was the Honrable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

Assumption Parish:

1. Jason Gilmore, 115 West Ave. Napoleonville, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

2. Joey Landry, 107 Woodland Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and the presiding judge was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

1. Garrett Dugas, 1014 Bayou Dr. Pierre Part, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle and the presiding judge was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

1. Michael Gwin, 111 Billie St. Belle Rose, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. The defendant must register as a Sex Offender.

2. Oscar Davis, 109 Pugh St. Paincourtville, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Convicted Felon Possessing a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, and Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm (2 Counts). The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. All sentences are to run concurrent with one another.

3. Walter Oliver, 225 Virginia St. Belle Rose, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Convicted Felon Possessing a Firearm or Carrying of a Concealed Weapon and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and the presiding judge was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

St. James Parish:

1. Kendrick Armant, 2153 Hwy 18 Vacherie, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Steven Tureau, and the presiding judge was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.
