SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of May 30-June 3, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Ashley Knight, 18387 Donna St. Prairieville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

2. Gregory Laudun, 37333 Mill Park Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be suspended upon completion of the following conditions: The defendant must serve 6 months in the parish jail or enroll in and complete a court approved substance abuse treatment program. Upon completion the defendant will be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

3. Chad Deslatte, 13031 Babin Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

4. Devante Francois, 2341 Hebert Dr. Laplace, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation.

5. Myles Bergeron, 44401 Kaytain Xing Sorrento, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

6. Angelisse Papizan, 15143 Silver Oak St. Pairieville, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentences are to be suspended upon completion of the following conditions: The defendant must serve 6 months in the parish jail or enroll in and complete a court approved substance abuse treatment program. Upon completion, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

7. Byron Howard, 37233 Cornerview Rd. Geismar, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts)  and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentences are to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on supervised probation for 4 years.

8. Gabriel Henry, 806 6th St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Distribution of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

9. Brett Spruel, 2503 Guilford Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be suspended upon completion of the following conditions: The defendant must serve 6 months is the parish jail or enroll in and complete a court approved substance abuse treatment program. Upon completion, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

10. Brittany Babin, 910 South Autabin Place Gonzales, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Theft Valued at $750 or more. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

11. Louise Sparlin, 41087 Witek Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Child Endangerment, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.

12. Steven Keown, 42355 Churchpoint Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 56, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

13. Kevin Pardue, 449 S Sherwood Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons (3 counts), Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

14. Sedrick Thompson, 14277 Mire Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Simple Battery, Attempted Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Enticing Persons into Prostitution. On the charges of Simple Battery and Attempted Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Enticing Persons into Prostitution, the defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.

15. Robert Bennett, 1408 Peytavin St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
