SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of September 21 – September 25, 2020, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Koby Lambert, Gonzales, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  2. Derrick Levy, 5978 Glen Oaks Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $1,000, but Less than $5,000 (3 counts) and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Crystal Burgess, 11806 Springfield Rd. Denham Springs, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  4. Reginald Lumar, 134 Evangeline Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 55, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Violation of Protective Orders. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kenneth Dupaty, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

  1.  William Wells, 10515 Airline Hwy Gonzales, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery, Domestic Abuse Battery, and False Imprisonment with a Dangerous Weapon. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Tremekia Vaughn Brown, 5364 Hemingway Dr. Darrow, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Unlawful Prescribing, Dispensing, Distributing, or Assisting in Illegally Obtaining a Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  3. Joshua Blanchard, 43461 Elmo Cannon Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse and Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Cody Wascom, 1334 S Shirley Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Craig Stewart and Maeghen Kling. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Emile St. Pierre.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Phillip Wade, 101 Dave St. Reserve, LA., age 50, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

St. James Parish:

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
