Last week, Brent Chamblis of 2138 S Commerce St. Gonzales, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Carjacking and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Chamblis was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Blake Sheets, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2023 arrest.
On October 13, 2023, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of LA 42 Prairieville in reference to a carjacking. Deputies were given the vehicle description as well as a description of the suspect who was armed with a firearm. Deputies located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect refused to stop the vehicle and proceeded to flee from deputies. Following a brief pursuit, the suspect crashed the vehicle into a wooded area. The suspect was apprehended and identified as Brent Chamblis. Chamblis was evaluated by medical personnel and was subsequently booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. A criminal history check revealed that Chambliss was in fact a convicted felon.
