SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

Gonzales Man Sentenced to 42 Years

On November 10, 2015, an Ascension Parish Jury found Damon Delmore of 1208 W Penn St. Gonzales, LA., age 38, guilty of 1 count of Aggravated Burglary and 2 counts of Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. Delmore was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joni Buquoi.

On May 20, 2014 Damon Delmore forced his way into an occupied Gonzales residence. The female resident observed Delmore enter her residence and ran into a bedroom where she was able to secure herself. Delmore began screaming at the female while banging on the bedroom door, however, the female resident was unable to understand English. After breaking a window inside of the residence, Delmore fled. Delmore then entered a second residence without permission, made contact with a juvenile who was asleep, and fled once again. Delmore then entered a third residence occupied by an elderly couple without permission. The elderly female inside of the residence ran through the home to alert her husband. Delmore ensued in a struggle with the elderly male while his wife attempted to escape. The elderly female was observed attempting to crawl through a bathroom window while screaming for help. The elderly male sustained some contusions to his body while the elderly female sustained a laceration to her arm from the window. The female from the first residence was able to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, who apprehended Delmore while he was attempting to flee the third residence.
